Friday 18th December - Update on return to school in January

Following the release of government guidance on the 17th December. This statement aims to clarify and reassure all parents/ carers with regards to the start date and arrangements from the 4th January 2021. The Department for Education (DfE) has stated that all Specialist and Alternative Provisions, vulnerable students (including those with an EHCP), key worker children and those in Year 11 should start the new school term as normal.

As you would have likely seen/ heard in the news, the government will also be offering mass testing for all secondary age pupils, as well as staff, to ensure that children are in school as much as possible. More details will be shared with parents during the first week of term regarding in-school testing and expectations.

For schools who are opening as normal in January, the DfE have offered schools the opportunity to take Monday 4th January as an extra Inset day. This day will be used for schools to formulate their in school testing schedules for both students and staff. Therefore the first day back in the new school term will be Tuesday 5th January and we look forward to welcoming our community back then.
